Meet Merlin - Our Alarm Clock!

January 26, 2009

This cat is unbelievable - every day, without fail, he wakes us up at 6am. He is ready to start his adventures, I on the other hand would like to stay asleep a little longer. I don't do mornings well!

It isn't just a subtle meow either. It is full on nuzzling in your face. Eyes, ear, mouth - whatever he can get at. If he could get under my skin, I am sure he would. Throughout this ordeal his motor is running. That's another strange thing about him - his purr - it sounds like he needs to go in for a service. Every now and then he makes this funny little squeaking sound - I have never heard a cat that sounds like he does.

I bury my head under my arms, but he still manages to find a way in. The only thing that stops him is a pillow over the head - my head, not his. Though that is something to consider!

But then he changes his tactic and starts climbing the fly screens. He knows that this is a surefire way to get someone out of bed. I am actually considering placing a spray bottle of water beside the bed, so I can shoot him down instead.

Unless of course it is 6am!

Australia ...

January 25, 2009

What better day to watch the movie 'Australia' than on the eve of Australia Day.

I have had a pretty bad success rate lately with actually watching a movie through to the end (I keep falling asleep even if I am sitting up) - so I was glad to make it through this epic movie and still be able to blog about it!

I have to say that I am actually quite ignorant to a lot of Australian history (shame on me) so I found the movie quite interesting from a historical point of view. I am also a fan of Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge is one of my favs)! Of course we can't forget Hugh Jackman, who is not bad on the eyes either! Throw in a bit of a love story and you've got it made!

I spent a little bit of time scanning some images for my 'published work' gallery. I love looking at the styled shots of my cards - the cards really come to life in the pictures.

Thanks to Kerryn over at the Little Scrapbook Shop for creating this fantastic 'poster' advertising 52 Pick Up.

52 Pick Up

If you need some inspiration to get creating, then you should pop on over and check this out in the forum. Although I must say from my own experience, the forum can be somewhat distracting to the creative process at times.

I will leave you with a quote which I think is appropriate - I always struggle to write and think that I do a pretty poor job of it ... lol ...

"Your manuscript is both good and original, but the part that is good is not original and the part that is original is not good."  ... Samuel Johnson

Up and Running!

January 24, 2009

Well here I go ... first blog entry on the new site. It has taken a few days to get everything sorted out, but I am pretty happy with the way things are looking at the moment. Thanks to my fiance, Patrik, who has been the driving force behind the development and handled all the 'tricky bits' for me. His vision for the site is much larger than mine - for now I am happy with what I have here.

But who knows what the future holds ...

I have nothing to show on the creative front - all my time has been spent figuring out what I wanted this site to look like. Plus it has been way too hot to even think about being creative really. 40 degrees plus is definitely not my ideal working conditions (we don't have air conditioning)!

I will leave you with a couple of pages I created last weekend whilst participating in the Little Scrapbook Shop's January Cybercrop. I only got three of the challenges completed, but these weekends are always good to get the creativity flowing.

edited - I just checked the Forum over at LSBS and found out that I won Challenge 5 - (insert big smiley face here)

Challenge 1 - Layout Sketch

Challenge 5 - Guest Designer Challenge
